The Figueres City Council has officially inaugurated the Pelayo Martínez covered court, a facility designed to allow local hockey and skating teams to train regardless of weather conditions in the Alt Empordà capital.

The project involved a total investment of 752,291 euros, transforming an outdoor area next to the Rafel Mora pavilion into a modern sports space. The installation features a new 41x21 meter perimeter fence and a specialized terrazzo floor, which is more durable and suitable for roller sports than the previous concrete surface.

"Soon there will be new and good news related to the needs of the Figueres clubs."

Jordi Masquef · Mayor of Figueres
Named after the prominent architect Pelayo Martínez (1898-1978), the court connects directly to existing locker rooms. While this facility addresses immediate training needs, local authorities confirmed that plans for a third municipal sports hall remain a priority for the city's future development.
