The Generalitat Government and the Catalan Council of the Legal Profession signed an agreement to reinforce legal assistance in Catalonia, establishing a new immigration shift in the Figueres judicial district in 2026.

This new duty shift, focused on immigration matters, will feature two daily lawyers and a specific allocation of 7,250 euros. The measure addresses the need to reinforce specialized legal attention in an area considered highly complex due to its proximity to the French border.
The creation of this service in Figueres is part of a broader institutional agreement signed on Tuesday between the Government, led by President Illa, and the CICAC. This commitment guarantees an additional contribution of 5.7 million euros annually for the free legal assistance service during the period 2026-2029.

The agreement also includes the new annual convention for the 2026 legal aid shift, which reaches 74.2 million euros, with a 2.5% higher remuneration for the modules.

One of the central axes of the 2026 convention is the territorial deployment of the service, with measures adapted to the reality of each judicial district. This reinforcement will also be applied in other districts such as Santa Coloma de Farners, Cervera, Balaguer, and La Seu d’Urgell, seeking to guarantee equitable attention across the country.
