Renfe has reinforced the high-speed service between Figueres and Barcelona, offering 125 additional seats to passengers at Girona station affected by the suspension of the Rodalies service.

The railway operator Renfe has implemented a high-speed reinforcement between Barcelona and Figueres to mitigate the lack of Rodalies service, which was suspended due to the infrastructure review following recent accidents on the R4 line and between Blanes and Maçanet. This reinforcement involves doubling the trains, adding 125 additional seats. The affected trains are the one departing at 08.47 towards Figueres and the one leaving Girona at 09.25 towards Sants.
Users can access these high-speed trains using their usual pass or by purchasing a mid-distance ticket. At the Girona station, passengers who intended to catch a Rodalies train early in the morning found barriers preventing access to the platforms, prompting them to head to the ticket offices and information staff to find alternatives.

"The public address system was saying the trains were running; I will take the AVE, but my concern is the return journey."

Antoni Miquel Ortiz · Affected Passenger
The lack of information has been the main complaint among travelers. Glòria Ferrer, who was traveling to work in Figueres, regretted that, despite being able to use the AVE with her pass, the train would arrive an hour later than scheduled. Furthermore, she criticized that the public address system was still announcing that Rodalies trains were running early in the morning, information that was corrected later.

"They told us there were no trains and that they would let us through with the pass, but it's a train that arrives in an hour; therefore, I will be late for work."
