The Department of Agriculture is investigating a farm in Capmany, in Alt Empordà, for failing to vaccinate its entire herd against nodular dermatosis, and sanctions are not ruled out.

The investigation focuses on the farm where a new outbreak of bovine nodular dermatosis (DNC) was recently detected. This case is particularly worrying since the farm had not completed the mandatory immunization protocol for all cows, as required by health regulations.

It is a collective problem, and that is why we encourage society to join the road blockades.

The disease, which affects cattle, has caused alarm in the region, and health authorities are evaluating whether the failure to vaccinate may have contributed to the spread of the outbreak. Sanctions could be significant for the Capmany farm.
Parallel to the health crisis, farmers in the Girona region have maintained road blockades, such as those on the AP-7 and N-II near Pontós, during January 2026, to demand sector improvements and denounce the critical situation they are facing.
