The L'Escala Town Council has unveiled its Municipal Housing Action Program (PAMH), featuring 25 strategic actions to be implemented by 2029 to ensure stable and affordable rental options.

The plan addresses the high residential pressure in this Alt Empordà town, where the growth of tourist apartments has made it difficult for residents, especially young people, to find long-term housing. The initiative was developed with support from the Girona Provincial Council.

"The problem in l'Escala is not a lack of housing, but a lack of available affordable and stable rental housing."

Key actions include subsidies for renovating empty homes to bring them onto the rental market and the development of 85 new public housing units in the Closa del Llop area in collaboration with Incasòl.
