The Empordà brewery Limbik Ferments, based in Llers, has been awarded two silver medals at the prestigious Barcelona Beer Challenge 2026, reinforcing its commitment to quality and local products.

The accolades were received for their Cold IPA, which triumphed in the Specialty IPA category, and for the Grape Saison, distinguished in the Specialty Beer section. The latter is notable for incorporating 13% macabeu grape must, sourced from the Cooperativa de Garriguella, a detail that underscores its strong connection to the Empordà region.
This deep connection to the land is not merely a strategy but a fundamental pillar of the brand's identity. Limbik Ferments presents itself as a beer crafted "in the heart of the Empordà," aiming to transport its consumers to the region's landscapes through each brew. The project originated from the founder, Xavi P.'s, desire to combine his passion for brewing with the expression of Empordà's identity.
The philosophy of local sourcing is also evident in other creations from the brewery. For instance, the Empordà Weisse was made with 160 kilograms of cherries from Terrades, seeking to establish synergies with local producers and artists. In addition to its five regular beers, Limbik offers special editions and other fermented products like kombucha, demonstrating a vision that extends beyond that of a conventional microbrewery.
Limbik Ferments' presence has been notable at various beer events, including the Birratast d'Ordis, the Fira Degustació de la Cervesa Artesana de Figueres, the Fira de la Cervesa de Roses, and the Vespres Musicals de Vilafant, strengthening its roots in the Alt Empordà. It also participated in the Birra a Mà 2025 festival in Girona, organized by the Associació El Tirador, solidifying its reach across the Girona region.

Limbik gains prestige in one of the most demanding competitions in Spain and, at the same time, reaffirms its unique narrative: that of fermented products that not only seek technical quality but also aim to tell the story of the Empordà's landscape, ingredients, and culture within each bottle.
