The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, expressed confidence this Monday that farmers would end all road blockades, including those on the AP-7 in Alt Empordà, following their scheduled meeting with President Salvador Illa.

Òscar Ordeig, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, made these statements after the blockade on the A-27, the access to the Port of Tarragona, was lifted. Farmers still maintain blockades on the AP-7 between Borrassà and Pla de l'Estany, the C-16 in Berguedà, the N-II in Alt Empordà, and the C-38 at Coll d'Ares.

"Our commitment is to find consensus and form a common front with all agrarian organizations."

The main goal of this common front is to "minimize the adverse effects, if any, of Mercosur," the trade agreement that causes great concern in the primary sector. Efforts are also focused on influencing the negotiation of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) scheduled for 2028.
The crucial meeting between farmer representatives and President Salvador Illa was scheduled for Monday afternoon, with the expectation that the agreements reached would facilitate the normalization of traffic on Catalonia's main roads.
