Yesterday, September 9th, an informational session was held for the students joining the festival's Community Service. During the meeting, details were provided on the initiative's operation, the weekend's organization, and the various tasks the young people will undertake.
The main objective of this project is for participants to experience the Terra de Trobadors from within, engage with the history and heritage of Castelló d'Empúries, and discover how a festival of this nature is organized.
The Councilor for Education, Laura Guerrero, highlighted that the Community Service offers students an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, commit to their surroundings, and gain firsthand knowledge of one of the municipality's most significant cultural activities. She noted the consistent growth in the number of young people involved each year.
The project, which began four editions ago with about fifteen students, has grown to over 50 current participants, establishing itself as a program that connects students with the local culture and heritage through practical experience.
The mayor of Castelló d'Empúries, Anna Massot, positively assessed the role of young people in the festival, stating that their involvement signifies the younger generations embracing the municipality's heritage and life. She emphasized that culture is built collectively.
Throughout the festival weekend, students will perform various tasks related to the event's development, experiencing the Terra de Trobadors firsthand and learning about its operations.
The Community Service is a mandatory educational activity for third and fourth-year ESO students in Catalonia, aimed at fostering civic engagement. This project is developed in collaboration with the municipal departments of Culture, Festivals and Historical Heritage, and Education.
