The emergency call was made around 9:30 AM. The fire started in a dishwasher located in the bakery section of the premises. Although the staff managed to extinguish the flames themselves, four fire crews were dispatched to ensure the safety of the Alt Empordà building.

No injuries were reported among the two employees and two customers present at the time. The Guàrdia Urbana cordoned off the street while SEM medical services and firefighters completed their inspection before allowing residents to leave their homes.
