According to sector estimates, each cruise passenger disembarking at a port of call spends an average of about 90 euros during their visit. This figure is in addition to the costs associated with port services contracted by the vessels.
Specifically in Roses, 7 cruise ships and approximately 2,700 passengers are expected between May and October. A notable feature of this season is that all scheduled vessels are high-end, targeting a tourism segment with high purchasing power.
Most calls will occur outside the central summer months. Approximately 70% of cruises will stop during the low season, a strategy that, according to Ports de la Generalitat, will help de-seasonalize tourist activity and strengthen the local economy.
The season at the port of Roses began this Sunday with the arrival of the Seadream I, from the company Seadream Yacht Club. This cruise line has been visiting Roses and various points along the Costa Brava for fourteen years. The cruise arrived from Barcelona with about fifty passengers, mostly Americans, and continued its journey to the French port of Sète.
During this season, the port of Roses will host ships from six different companies, including Azamara, Crystal Cruises, Sea Cloud Cruises, and Windstar Cruises. The inaugural call of the cruise ship Azamara Onward is also highlighted.
The joint promotion of the ports of Roses and Palamós is carried out under the brand Costa Brava Cruise Ports, an initiative created by various public institutions and tourism organizations to boost cruise tourism on the Costa Brava.
