The Town Council of Viladamat and seven other municipalities in Girona have approved a motion this February demanding the resignation of Minister Sílvia Paneque over the ongoing Rodalies rail crisis.

The initiative, led by the CUP party, has been backed by towns such as Salt, Ripoll, Celrà, Llagostera, Sant Jordi Desvalls, and Ribes de Freser. The text highlights the lack of safety and reliability in the current rail network.
The motion follows a fatal accident in Gelida and criticizes long-term underinvestment by the Spanish State. Local authorities are calling for the full transfer of rail management to the Generalitat de Catalunya to address structural issues.
The political group also expressed dissatisfaction with the joint venture agreement between governments, claiming it fails to provide local control over the railway system.
