Five students from Figueres have organized the 'De Figueres al món' conference to connect young talent with the business fabric of Alt Empordà, aiming to generate professional opportunities and root young people in the region.

The initiative, scheduled for May 2 at the Auditori dels Caputxins in Figueres, stems from concerns about young people leaving to study elsewhere and the subsequent disconnection from their hometown. The organizers, aged between 20 and 21, aim to create a meeting space for students and businesses, with the support of the Figueres City Council.
The organizers highlight the need to overcome the contradiction between businesses struggling to find qualified staff and young people's perception that there are no job opportunities in the region. The goal is to dispel the myth that the best options are always found away from home.

"We need to create a space for these two parties to meet."

The conference program includes a round table titled «Rethinking well-being: where we come from and where we are going», with the participation of Miquel Roca Junyent, Sònia Mulero, and Karina Gibert, moderated by journalist Gemma Alegrí. Afterwards, there will be a networking session with fifteen companies and institutions from various sectors, such as law, medicine, IT, architecture, and marketing.
Participating entities include the Fundació Salut Empordà, the Figueres Bar Association, Assessoria TAX Figueres, Amazon, Grup Tramuntana, Ceres Roura, Gosbi, Sidreria Txot’s, Grup Eina, Perfumeria Comas, Garcia de Pou, Calygas, Costa Construccions, and Vinyes dels Aspres. The promoters hope this event will become an annual reference point during the Fires i Festes de la Santa Creu, fostering the creation of professional and personal networks with a Figueres identity.
