The new exhibition offers a journey through the figure of Vicenç Pagès Jordà, focusing on the books that accompanied and defined him as a reader, critic, and writer. Pagès Jordà not only wrote about literature but also constructed his thought through reading and the interconnection of texts.
The exhibition stems from the desire to highlight how Vicenç Pagès Jordà, through his publications in the «Josep Pla» collection, such as Clàssics revisitats (2018) and Curs de prosa (2025), provides an accessible yet demanding selection, revision, and analysis of key works of Catalan prose.
Through this work, he transforms literary criticism into a tool for cultural dissemination. As he himself expressed, his goal was to "overcome the borders of Catalan literature, relate them (the authors) to other works that readers might know and that could contribute to valuing them in one way or another."
The exhibition, organized by the Diputació de Girona with the collaboration of the Biblioteca Ramon Bordas, the Ecomuseu Farinera, and the Ajuntament de Castelló d'Empúries, highlights the Diputació's work in recovering and disseminating Girona's literary legacy, with Vicenç Pagès Jordà as the central figure.
