The driver accused of causing a fatal accident on the AP-7 in La Jonquera on June 10, 2023, testified Wednesday before the popular jury that he only intended to flee from the French police.

The defendant, who faces charges for the accident that claimed one life, admitted he was transporting a drug shipment he had collected in Olot and was destined for Perpignan.

"I did not imagine that I could cause a fatal crash, and it was not until after the collision that I realized I had committed a folly."

According to his account, upon seeing police lights in French territory, he became “very stressed” because it was his first time carrying drugs. He chose to turn around, claiming he was unaware he was driving against traffic on the motorway, as he did not know the road.
The testimony took place this Wednesday before the popular jury responsible for issuing the verdict regarding the accident that occurred on June 10, 2023, on the AP-7 near La Jonquera.
