At the beginning of 2026, both L'Escala and Peralada were in a favorable position to secure promotion. L'Escala, which had even led the category, remained among the top spots, while Peralada, although not consolidating in the top five, was closely following the promotion positions. However, a series of negative results has turned the situation around.
Sunday's matchday was particularly painful for both teams. L'Escala suffered a resounding 1-4 defeat at Nou Miramar against Vilassar de Mar, a team from the lower half of the table. The visitors took control of the match with two goals from Pol Rivera before halftime. Despite David Gurillo's attempts to react with second-half substitutions and a penalty goal from Expósito in the 71st minute, Vilassar sealed the victory with two more goals.
Meanwhile, Peralada visited a seemingly more demanding opponent, L'Hospitalet, and lost 3-0. The match unfolded similarly to L'Escala's game, with two home goals in the first half, the first from a penalty, in the 35th and 43rd minutes. These blows left Peralada unable to respond, and they conceded a third goal in the final minutes.
With only four matchdays remaining in Tercera Federación (five for L'Escala, which has a postponed match against San Cristóbal), play-off chances are almost non-existent. L'Escala has not won since February 15 and is six points behind Vilanova. Peralada, for its part, has only secured one victory since February 1 and has lost its last four matches, placing them eleventh in the table. Although neither team will have to worry about relegation, promotion seems a distant dream.
