Local Police in Llançà pursued and identified a man with a history of robbery Monday evening, after residents reported him suspiciously observing homes in the area.

The events took place around seven in the evening last Monday, when several neighbors alerted the Local Police about an individual who was observing homes and attempting to access them in the area of Era and Pizarro streets and their surroundings. Two patrols quickly deployed to the scene to begin the search.
The man was located shortly after. Upon noticing the police presence, he fled on foot through several streets in the municipality until he was finally intercepted on Nicolás Salmerón Street. During the intervention, the individual, just over 20 years old, was defiant and aggressively gesturing towards the officers, although he did not physically assault them.

The immediate warnings from the neighbors were key to frustrating a possible robbery.

Once identified, officers confirmed that the individual had a record for burglaries, damages, and other criminal acts, although no prior record was noted in Llançà itself. However, the man had caused recent incidents in neighboring municipalities.
The officers searched the suspect to rule out him carrying stolen items. However, he was not detained as no completed crime or forced entry into a dwelling was confirmed. The man subsequently left the municipality. The Llançà City Council has recognized the work of the Local Police and highlighted the importance of prevention through patrols and controls.
