The alert for the explosion, which affected a gas tank located outside the hotel, was received at 02:18 AM. Nine ground units from the Generalitat Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, crews rescued the two affected individuals: a 47-year-old man, in critical condition, who was transferred to Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, and a second man, aged 74, evacuated in a minor condition to Trueta Hospital in Girona.
In parallel, firefighters inspected the interior of the property to ensure no one else was inside, rescuing a dog unharmed. They also extinguished a fire that had affected several hotel rooms and ventilated the ground floor area where a gas pocket had accumulated. Once the fire was put out around 03:00 AM, they inspected the building's structure with drone support and sealed off the entire facility due to significant damage.
Firefighters also checked the roof of a neighboring house, affected by the impact of the explosion's debris, but found no damage. Currently, one fire unit remains at the scene, dampening the area, while technicians from the gas company are working to ensure the installation's safety.
