Girona farmers demand "tangible facts" to lift AP-7 blockade in Pontós

Revolta Pagesa protesters, who keep the main route to France blocked, will only end the mobilization with "something in their pocket."

Farmers belonging to Revolta Pagesa demanded "tangible facts" from the Department of Agriculture this Sunday to withdraw from the AP-7 motorway near Pontós, maintaining pressure on ongoing negotiations.

The spokesperson for Revolta Pagesa in the Girona regions, Jordi Ginabreda, warned that they do not want to repeat last year's feeling of "disappointment," when a signed agreement left pending points unfulfilled. Therefore, they insist that the measures must have a real impact on the sector's daily life, rejecting generic commitments or future meetings.

"We will leave with our heads held high because we have achieved something, or because they come and beat us up."

This Sunday marks the fourth day of the farmers' protest on the motorway, one of the state's main connections with France. Although they temporarily lifted the N-II blockade in coordination with the Mossos d'Esquadra until early afternoon, the mobilization on the AP-7 remains firm.
Key demands include advocating against the Mercosur agreement, although farmers might accept product imports if there were "firm and exhaustive guarantees" of control. Negotiations with the Ministry are considered the most complicated part, as the administration questions the legitimacy of the recently formed organization Revolta Pagesa.
