Over a hundred farmers from the Girona region are maintaining the blockade of the AP-7 highway in Pontós this Friday, braving heavy rain and demanding the revocation of the Mercosur agreement.

The heavy rain has forced over a hundred people to take shelter under improvised covers made of straw bales and sails, set up in the middle of the highway in Pontós. These structures, which were used to spend the night, now protect the demonstrators from the water.

We will not leave until the Mercosur agreement is revoked, regardless of the weather.

The farmers have had to pack up tables, pots, and stoves to keep them dry, but the protest organizers are keeping the mobilization active and calling on citizens to join the blockade.
The traffic restriction on the AP-7, which only allows cars to circulate, has caused an increasing number of vehicles to accumulate on the parallel N-II road, increasing traffic disruption in the Alt Empordà area.
