The Torroella de Fluvià Town Council has started drafting the project to renovate Mas Sastre, which will become the new municipal headquarters, as the current building does not meet accessibility requirements.

The council of Torroella de Fluvià has initiated the drafting of the rehabilitation and adaptation project for Mas Sastre, also known as Can Pageset. This initiative responds to the need to relocate the municipal headquarters, as the current Casa de la Vila has deficiencies in accessibility and lacks sufficient space for the services it provides.

"Once the works are completed, it will be the municipal town hall, as the current building does not comply with accessibility regulations and has become obsolete due to the lack of space required for its services. It has not been possible to adapt the current building due to exhausted buildability."

The acquisition of Mas Sastre by the Torroella de Fluvià Town Council took place in the summer of 2024, thus expanding the municipal heritage. In addition to the new council headquarters, this space, which includes two houses, is expected to house the Blacksmith's Tools Museum and the Farmer's Museum, concentrating them in a single point in the town.

"In this space, which occupies two houses, we want to house the Blacksmith's Tools Museum and the Farmer's Museum, so that it is in a unique place in the town. Once we get inside, we will do the distribution."

The governing team also plans to create a large room for local entities in this 18th-century property. However, the restoration process for the building is estimated to take several years, as the necessary funding will need to be secured. It is worth noting that part of this property was, during the 1980s, the agricultural products market of Can Pageset.
In parallel, the Torroella Town Council has initially approved the project for the improvement and adaptation of the rural road connecting the neighborhoods of Vilacolum and Sant Tomàs de Fluvià. This agreement, reached by the municipal plenary session at the end of last year, will allow the conditioning of the route with a budget of 129,501 euros, according to the project drafted by engineer Josep Ramis.
