The Minister of the Interior and Public Safety, Núria Parlon, appeared before the Parliament to offer an informative session regarding the management and measures adopted following the tragic train accident in Gelida.
Parlon confirmed that, of the total number of injured, 26 were discharged from the hospital within a few hours. Currently, only one person remains hospitalized. The Minister took the opportunity to once again lament the death of one person in the incident, which was caused by the train hitting a collapsed retaining wall.
“"I want to highlight the good coordination between the different operational bodies and the good management with the infrastructure managers during the most delicate moments."
Furthermore, the Minister indicated that the Procicat Railway Plan remains activated due to the resulting mobility issues, especially on the AP-7 motorway. This plan will remain in effect until road traffic southbound on the AP-7 has been normalized, which Parlon is confident will happen «soon».
