The acting President of the Generalitat, Albert Dalmau, has requested Renfe and Adif to completely suspend Rodalies and regional services to ensure user safety following serious infrastructure incidents.

The acting President of the Generalitat, Albert Dalmau, announced that the Govern formally requested Renfe and Adif to completely halt Rodalies and regional train services. This measure would remain in place until the railway operators can ensure the full operability and safety of the tracks.

"Safety is and will be the paramount issue in all our actions."

Dalmau argued that the rain, snow, and wind storm of the past week generated “an unprecedented volume of incidents” on the Catalan network. The crisis began with the collapse of an AP-7 retaining wall, which fell onto an R4 train near Gelida, resulting in the death of a trainee driver and 37 injuries.
In addition to the suspension, the Govern has requested that, upon resumption of circulation, tickets be free until full normality is restored. Negotiations between Renfe, Adif, and the train drivers, who demand infrastructure guarantees, affect the daily mobility of approximately 400,000 people.
