The Congress of Deputies approved on Thursday a relief package for victims of the Gelida and Adamuz train accidents, ensuring financial compensation for those affected by the tragedies.

Minister Ángel Víctor Torres announced that families of the deceased will receive 72,000 euros. Compensation for injured passengers will range from 2,400 euros for minor injuries to 84,000 euros for the most severe cases.
During the session, Junts MP Isidre Gavin argued that the Gelida accident was preventable, blaming a lack of infrastructure maintenance rather than just heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, other social measures were rejected by the chamber due to lack of political consensus.

"Safety cannot depend on who offers the cheapest budget; it must depend on who does it well."
