Pujol, who previously led the radio station RAC1 (between 2012 and 2017) during its peak, formally presented his intention to run during a virtual assembly of Junts members held last Thursday. His official designation as the party's candidate is scheduled for February 12 at the Auditori de Vinseum.
“"I want to be the mayor of Vilafranca to make the town shine and good things happen."
In the interview, Pujol strongly criticized the current administration, describing the local government as “sluggish” and lacking ambition. He cited the closure of the Comarcal Hospital for three weeks after the DANA storm as “absolutely inconceivable,” highlighting the low level of expectation in local management.
The Junts candidate stressed the need to focus on “essentials,” including cleanliness, street lighting, and security, arguing that poorly maintained streets attract degradation and insecurity. He also highlighted the necessity of structural projects, such as establishing a proper university campus and improving access points to the AP-7 motorway to solve traffic congestion.
Regarding housing, Pujol warned against accepting growth plans dictated by the Barcelona metropolitan area, specifically calling the Bassetes project a “poisoned candy.” He insisted that Vilafranca must only grow to meet its own needs, ensuring that current adolescents can afford to live in their hometown in the future.
“"Politicians are like blacksmiths who worked iron. Our job is to forge futures and make dreams tangible."
