Activity related to the early detection program for breast cancer, promoted by the Departament de Salut, also saw an increase. CSAPG performed 11,028 mammograms as part of the screening program, a 5% rise from 2024, detecting 55 neoplasms, a 10% increase from the prior year. These figures highlight the importance of screening for early detection.
Additionally, CSAPG conducted 3,301 mammograms and 2,758 breast ultrasounds. In terms of surgical activity, 231 interventions were performed, of which 89.57% were carried out as day surgery, allowing patients to return home the same day.
The Early Detection Program for Breast Cancer by the Departament de Salut invites women aged 50 to 69 for a free mammogram every two years to detect the disease in its early stages. CSAPG also reminds women to be vigilant for any changes in their breasts and to consult a healthcare professional if any suspicious signs appear.
The Breast Pathology Unit at CSAPG is accredited by the Spanish Society of Senology and Breast Pathology (SESPM), recognizing its quality standards. Furthermore, CSAPG collaborates with the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) to ensure continuity of care for patients.
