The implementation of this service, awarded to a specialized company, represents a structural change for the territory, which previously relied on shared management with other health regions. This new configuration will allow care to be adapted to the specific needs of the local population over the next five years.
The deployment includes 31 urgent and 90 non-urgent transport units, with a significant increase in annual service hours. Furthermore, advanced life support units operating 24 hours a day have been consolidated in Vilafranca del Penedès, el Vendrell, Igualada, and Vilanova i la Geltrú, ensuring a faster response to emergency situations.
One of the most notable technological innovations is the inclusion of advanced equipment in the ambulances, such as portable ultrasound scanners and blood analyzers, allowing professionals to make precise diagnoses before reaching the hospital. Additionally, the vehicles feature a renewed look with the fluorescent green Battenberg pattern to increase visibility and safety on public roads.
