In response to citizen inquiries about security, the Vic City Council has communicated the initiatives implemented to combat crime. A key line of action has been the reinforcement of human and material resources for the Guardia Urbana, with a progressive increase in staff and the incorporation of new technological tools such as tasers, a drone, and the deltacar.
Concurrently, the focus has been on preventive actions with a socio-educational approach. A project has been launched with six social workers who operate daily in the afternoons and evenings in the streets of Vic to prevent risky situations and foster coexistence, particularly among adolescents and young people in vulnerable situations.
Regarding coordination with other administrations, there have been repeated calls for an increase in Mossos d'Esquadra officers in the Osona region, supported by data on crime trends. Efforts have also been made to establish a dedicated judicial headquarters in Vic, with the provision of necessary land.
From a political standpoint, collaboration has occurred to promote legislative changes aimed at providing a more effective response to cases of repeat criminal offending, an initiative approved by the Congress of Deputies and effective from April 2026.
The City Council acknowledges that security is a primary citizen concern and continues to work on prevention and the reinforcement of security services to contribute to a safer and more cohesive city.
