The Catalan Government has confirmed that Rodalies and Regional train services will remain free of charge until March 31, as the rail network fails to return to normal operations.

The Department of Territory confirmed the extension following reports from 3CatInfo. Minister Sílvia Paneque had previously suggested that the original deadline of March 15 for full service restoration was unlikely to be met due to persistent technical challenges.
The free travel measure was implemented following a significant train accident in Gelida. Although the network was expected to be fully operational by now, several lines including the R3, R4, R8, and R15 still face partial closures and service disruptions.
Authorities report that over 200 temporary speed restrictions remain in place across the network. these safety measures are the primary cause of the frequent delays affecting commuters throughout Catalonia as engineers work to finalize repairs by the end of the month.
