National Police and Gelida Local Police officers arrested two individuals this March for running a marijuana plantation with 504 plants in the Alt Penedès region.

The police raid took place inside a detached house located in a residential area of Gelida. During the search, officers found over half a thousand plants in the growing stage, along with specialized equipment and materials used for large-scale cultivation.
The investigation began after detecting signs of illegal activity at the property. A key factor was the tampering of the power supply. The utility company estimates the value of the stolen electricity at over 36,000 euros, a situation that posed a serious fire risk.
The two detainees are charged with crimes against public health and electricity fraud. The operation successfully removed a significant amount of illegal drugs from the market and shut down an active production site.
