Mossos d'Esquadra officers have arrested two men in Sant Quintí de Mediona for drug trafficking and electricity fraud, after seizing 1,900 marijuana plants.

The investigation, which began in late April, was initiated following information from an electricity distribution company about anomalous consumption at an industrial warehouse with no apparent activity. Officers detected a significant imbalance between contracted power and actual consumption, indicating potential fraudulent tampering.
These findings led investigators to suspect the presence of an intensive drug cultivation facility. With a judicial authorization from Court of Instruction number 5 of Vilafranca del Penedès, a search of the premises was conducted.
During the search, carried out on June 18th, the two detainees, aged 22 and 46, were found along with a total of 1,900 marijuana plants. All infrastructure associated with the cultivation, including ventilation, climate control, and high-intensity lighting systems, was also seized.
Technicians from the electricity company confirmed the fraud involving a double three-phase connection, and the supply was immediately cut due to the installation's hazardous nature. One of the arrested individuals had a prior record for similar offenses.
