A Rodalies R4 line train derailed Tuesday evening in Gelida (Alt Penedès) after colliding with a collapsed retaining wall, resulting in one death and 37 injuries.

The accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday in the municipality of Gelida (Alt Penedès), near Caves Torelló. The cause was a landslide and the collapse of a retaining wall onto the track, possibly due to heavy rainfall that day. The train, traveling towards Manresa, subsequently derailed.

"At the time of the accident, there were 4 people in the engine, including the main driver and 3 people in training. The fatality is believed to be one of these trainees."
