The Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues Town Council has launched a feasibility study to implement a district heating and cooling (DHC) network in the Alt Penedès region this March 2026.

This project is a collaboration between the local government, the Ecosesgarrigues energy community, and Osona Energia Cooperativa (OECOOP). It is part of the international MUSE-DHC European initiative, which analyzes pilot thermal networks across Europe.
The technical assessment will be conducted by SUNO Enginyeria de Serveis Energètics SCCLP at no cost to the municipality. Experts will analyze the potential of local resources such as geothermal energy or biomass to provide sustainable heating and cooling to the community.
A participatory Living Lab has been established to involve citizens in the process. Following a meeting on February 25th, local representatives agreed to form a monitoring committee to oversee the development of this decarbonization strategy.
