The Semaf train drivers' union is currently blocking the full restoration of the R4 commuter line, despite repairs being completed following the Gelida rail accident.

It has been 58 days since the crash in Gelida. Although the tracks are now available for use, the Spanish Union of Railway Drivers (Semaf) has refused to approve the new work schedules required to resume normal service between Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and Martorell.
The delay is causing significant issues for passengers from Sant Vicenç de Calders. The planned reopening date of March 16 has passed, and commuters must still rely on shuttle trains and replacement bus services every 30 minutes to complete their journeys.
This standoff between the union and the operator Renfe is also affecting the R1 and R2 South lines. Other regional services, such as the R15 between Reus and Riba-roja d'Ebre, also remain disrupted and continue to operate via road transport.
