The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three men last Saturday in Gelida for the alleged theft of copper telephone cables along the AP-7 highway.

Traffic officers discovered a van parked on the highway shoulder containing 150 sections of copper cable and specialized machinery. The suspects had reportedly forced a perimeter fence near the Gelida funicular to access the underground wiring.
The three individuals, aged 21 and 44, were released pending trial. Police are investigating if they are linked to other similar thefts in the Alt Penedès region.
