Adif suspended circulation on all Rodalies de Catalunya lines late on Tuesday, following a fatal crash in Gelida and citing damage caused by recent storms.

The suspension, announced by Adif, took effect late on Tuesday and affects the entire Rodalies network across Catalonia. The infrastructure manager justified the measure "due to the effects that the storms are causing on the infrastructure".
This decision follows a serious accident that occurred on Tuesday night in Gelida, in the Alt Penedès region, where a collision resulted in one fatality. The Generalitat later attributed this incident to the intense rainfall of recent days.

Wednesday is expected to be an extremely complicated day for the mobility of thousands of commuters across the Catalan territory.

Railway sources noted that the suspension also occurs amid labor tension, as train drivers had threatened mobilizations that would have paralyzed the service. Currently, no alternative transport has been provided for affected users.
