The Vilafranca Open 2026, organized by the Associació Catalana d’Speedcubing, will gather up to 60 participants on Saturday, February 28 at the Espai Jove La Nau to compete in Rubik's Cube solving.

The event, presented by Youth Councillor Montse Arroyo and promoter Pau Carbonell, is the third edition of this official speedcubing competition. It is regulated by the World Cubing Association (WCA), the international body that ensures quality standards and equal conditions for all trials.
The Vilafranca Open 2026 is open to all audiences, with a special focus on accessibility for newcomers. Categories include 3×3, 2×2, 4×4, 5×5, and 3×3 one-handed, taking place in two time slots: 10 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm.
The event promotes shared responsibility, as non-competing participants take on organizational roles such as judging or scrambling the cubes. Furthermore, to encourage emerging talent, a specific prize will be awarded for the best result in the 3×3 category for a novice participant aged 13 to 30.
As a preliminary activity, a familiarization workshop will be held on Friday, February 27 at the Espai Jove La Nau. Registration, limited to 60 spots, opens on January 26 with a cost of 5 euros, with discounts applied for members of the Associació Catalana d’Speedcubing and young residents of Vilafranca del Penedès.
