The Vilafranca del Penedès City Council has launched a comprehensive inspection of the town's trees this February, following a dangerous combination of heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The sequence of adverse weather events has created a critical situation for urban greenery. After years of drought, the soil has quickly become saturated, which, combined with wind gusts, has compromised tree stability in Vilafranca del Penedès.

"It is the worst combination that could happen."

Significant damage was reported at Passeig Rafael Soler, where a pine tree collapsed this Tuesday. Additionally, a large tree in Llevant Park, located in the Espirall neighborhood, has been cordoned off and is awaiting removal due to safety concerns.
