The Vilafranca Social and Health Consortium has unveiled a plan to build between 80 and 90 affordable rental apartments for the elderly in Vilafranca del Penedès.

The project aims to provide 24-hour assistance while allowing seniors to maintain their independence. The Vilafranca City Council has identified a site on Dolors Piera street in the la Girada neighborhood as the potential location for this facility.

"This is a great opportunity to have a major elderly care facility in Vilafranca, similar to those in other Catalan cities."

Additionally, the expansion of the Ricard Fortuny center is set to begin after the summer of 2026. With a 4.1 million euro investment, the project will add two new buildings and increase the number of private rooms to 70.
