Hurricane-force winds caused significant damage to the roof of the Joan Marquès sports hall in Vilafranca del Penedès this Thursday, February 12th, forcing an immediate closure.

The structural damage poses a safety risk for athletes, particularly those from the Secció Esportiva Casal. Following a technical inspection, authorities have ruled the facility out of service until all necessary repairs are completed.
The El Casal Society and the Vilafranca City Council Sports Department are seeking alternative venues for training and matches. The goal is to minimize the impact on local sports schedules by using other municipal facilities.
As a precaution, the wooden court floor has been covered with plastic sheeting to prevent damage from potential rain or further debris falling from the compromised roof.
