The Municipal Archive of La Granada has taken a significant step in preserving and disseminating the town's historical memory by incorporating its collections into the Imagina image portal, part of the Diputació de Barcelona's Network of Municipal Archives. This initiative positions La Granada as one of the first municipalities in the Penedès to undertake this digitization process and make its photographic collection publicly accessible online.
This achievement is the result of laborious work in collecting and organizing by the town's Archive Area, with support from the Diputació. This accomplishment stems from particularly diligent and continuous effort developed over a long period. The project was made possible through the teamwork of the La Granada Archive Area and the support of the Diputació de Barcelona. Prior work in collecting, identifying, and organizing hundreds of photographs has laid the groundwork for digitizing and cataloging the municipality's collective memory online.
The first phase has seen the publication of 85 images from the Municipal Photographic Collection. This initial set is just the starting point of a dynamic project that will progressively incorporate more photographs depicting the history, traditions, landscapes, and social life of La Granada.
Through the Imagina portal, residents and researchers can easily and intuitively search for images by keyword, subject, author, or date, as well as browse the collections of other participating municipal archives.
The Municipal Archive of La Granada has been part of the Diputació de Barcelona's Network of Municipal Archives Maintenance Program since 2006. The technical and financial support from the provincial entity, combined with the dedication of the municipal area, has been crucial in equipping the town with the necessary tools for the proper conservation, organization, and dissemination of its documentary and graphic heritage.
