The accident alert was received at 07:48 a.m. at kilometer marker 4.8 of the C-243a, which connects the towns of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and Vilafranca del Penedès. The exact causes of the collision between the bicycle and the passenger car are currently under investigation by the Mossos d'Esquadra police force.
As a result of the impact, the cyclist died at the scene. The Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) confirmed that this is the third fatal victim registered during 2026 on Catalonia's interurban roads.
Following the incident, emergency services were rapidly mobilized. Four patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra were activated to manage road safety and begin the investigation, along with three units of the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) and several units of the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).
