The goal scored by former FC Vilafranca player, Master Omar Kanteh, was the first of two that secured the 2-0 victory for the Catalonia regional team against Aragon in the intermediate phase of the UEFA Regions' Cup.
The match took place this Thursday afternoon at the Alumnes Obrers stadium in Vilanova i la Geltrú and saw a good turnout of spectators for the regional clash.
Catalonia has qualified for the national final phase of the Regions' Cup, where they will compete against Navarra, Galicia, and the Canary Islands.
With this win, Catalonia guarantees its participation in the national final phase, scheduled between February 28 and March 1 at a venue yet to be determined. The winner of this stage will earn the right to compete in the international UEFA Regions' Cup against other European regional selections.
Kanteh's opening goal came in the 49th minute, and Jan González sealed the victory in the 84th minute. The Catalan squad featured players such as Albert Alfonso, Xavi Murcia, and captain Ricky Calamardo.
