The Department of Agriculture has regenerated approximately 120 hectares of land in Alt Urgell and other Pyrenean regions through thirteen controlled burns since last autumn.

The strategy, carried out by the Forest Fire Prevention Special Group (GEPIF), aims to facilitate livestock access to grazing areas. Since January 1st, seven operations totaling 95 hectares have been completed in Alt Urgell, Pallars Sobirà, and Osona.
These interventions are conducted under strict weather conditions, avoiding windy days or extreme drought. Beyond agricultural benefits, controlled fire reduces dry fuel, minimizing the potential intensity of future forest fires.
