This Thursday, 140 students from secondary schools across the Alt Urgell region participated in the 10th Multilingual Dictation Contest held in la Seu d'Urgell.

The event, hosted at the Official Language School (EOI) and the Municipal School of Music, focused on the theme of animals this year. Students from the first to third years of ESO chose to compete in Catalan, Spanish, English, or French.

"We looked for representative texts in the four languages of the dictation that refer to this topic."

Mercè Solanelles · Director of the EOI in la Seu d'Urgell
The competition structure is unique: after an individual writing phase, students work in pairs to deliberate and decide on the most correct version of their work. This method encourages students to discuss linguistic doubts and improve their spelling through teamwork.

"The important thing is that they can discuss those words they are unsure about."
