The Espai Ermengol-Museu de la Ciutat will present a documentary on Thursday, January 29 at the Sala de la Immaculada, detailing the history and legacy of commercial establishments in La Seu d'Urgell.

The audiovisual work was produced by KTO Films, commissioned by Espai Ermengol, and is based on research carried out by economist Amadeu Gallart, Lluís Salses, and Javier Galindo. They also collaborated with the Arxiu Comarcal de l’Alt Urgell to access historical documents.
The documentary focuses on the legacy of the city's historic establishments, which were the subject of a thematic route three years ago. However, the work also looks ahead and invites reflection on the current situation of commerce in La Seu d'Urgell.

The audiovisual work invites reflection on the future of commerce in La Seu.

This reflection comes at a time of significant change, marked by the recent closure of long-standing businesses. For instance, Rellotgeria i Joieria Marsà closed last December 31 due to retirement, after nearly 70 years on Santa Maria street.
A year earlier, on December 30, 2024, Cal Muntó closed its doors. This emblematic textile shop, founded in 1897, had accumulated over 125 years of history on Major street. The owners of some of the few historic shops still active are featured in the documentary.
