Most locations in Alt Urgell could only observe the solar eclipse of this Wednesday evening for a few moments. A layer of clouds covered the sky, limiting visibility of the astronomical phenomenon even though many people had gathered at various points in the region to witness it.
Places like the Trava viewpoint welcomed over a hundred people, including locals and tourists. Concentrations also formed at Torre Solsona and Pla de les Forques, where vehicle access was restricted before 8 PM by the Guardia Civil.
The peak of the eclipse was scheduled for 8:28 PM in la Seu d'Urgell, with 99.22% solar coverage. At this moment, an unusual darkness was perceived, but only at specific intervals did clearings appear, allowing a small portion of the sun to be seen with special glasses.
In the southern part of the region, municipalities like Oliana or Bassella had better luck and were able to observe the phenomenon's peak. In contrast, in Cerdanya, clouds remained constant, completely obscuring the sun.
In the city of Lleida, the eclipse could be fully observed, turning the city into a point of tourist and scientific interest during this event.
