The Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) launched its new Alt Pirineu office in la Seu d'Urgell this Thursday, aiming to bridge the gap between science and mountain farming.

Currently located at the Casa dels Parcs dels Pirineus, the center will eventually move to the historic Ca l'Armenter building. The initiative focuses on climate change adaptation, bioeconomy, and providing new opportunities for young professionals in the Alt Urgell region.

"We want to strengthen the scientific presence in mountain regions and provide all our R&D potential to the sector."

Josep Usall · Director General of IRTA
The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, emphasized that the center is a strategic move to transform knowledge into economic progress. Two job openings for administrative and business development roles have already been posted to kickstart the project.
