A landslide involving earth and trees forced the closure of the local access road to several villages in Les Valls de Valira, Alt Urgell, starting from noon this Wednesday.

The detachment occurred in the area of Sant Joan Fumat, one of the municipality's core settlements, leading to the road closure from 12 noon on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
This incident directly impacts the mobility of about a hundred local residents who have had to seek alternative routes. The only viable option for them is to use 4x4 vehicles via the Farrera dels Llops route.
The local council of Les Valls de Valira reported that cleaning work was expected to begin during the afternoon of the same day, once the necessary rotary machine arrived to carry out these tasks.
For the moment, the exact date for the reopening of the road remains unknown. Local authorities indicated that the amount of material still falling at this point must be analyzed before safety can be guaranteed and traffic restored.
