The mayors of Montellà i Martinet (Cerdanya), Roser Bombardó, and El Pont de Bar (Alt Urgell), Rosa Andorrà, have joined forces to demand immediate action on the N-260 road. They report that multiple potholes, which have appeared over the last two months on a three-kilometer stretch of the Pyrenean Axis, pose a serious "danger" to driving.
“"We cannot wait for good weather, we demand a quick repair because it is very dangerous to drive along this stretch."
The mayors deem the current patch repairs insufficient and reject the argument from the sub-delegation of the Spanish Government in Lleida to wait for the arrival of better weather. The mayor of El Pont de Bar detailed that the potholes began appearing in December and that a resident suffered an accident when their car trailer detached due to the poor condition of the pavement.
Sources from the Spanish Government sub-delegation in Lleida attribute the damage to the intensity of recent rainfall and state that they plan to act using the annual pavement rehabilitation contract when weather conditions and equipment availability permit.
In addition to the road condition, both mayors lament the delay in deploying fiber optic cable along the shoulder of the N-260. This work was agreed upon almost a year ago in the last Bilateral Infrastructure Commission, and Rosa Andorrà stresses that residents in her municipality lack good internet service and must pay higher prices for it.
