Traffic on the N-260 road (Pyrenean Axis) between Martinet and El Pont de Bar has become severely complicated since the start of winter due to the appearance of numerous potholes posing a risk to road safety.

The appearance of dozens of potholes on the pavement of the N-260, known as the Pyrenean Axis, has generated traffic and safety problems since the beginning of winter on the stretch connecting Martinet and El Pont de Bar. This proliferation of holes, which in some places are very close together, forces drivers to make sudden swerves to avoid damage to vehicles, especially the shock absorbers.
The area where the asphalt has suffered the greatest degradation is near the towns of Els Arenys and El Pont de Bar, close to the administrative border between Alt Urgell and Cerdanya. Some of these potholes have a considerable depth, about an inch, and a length that can exceed one meter.

The potholes have become a risk to traffic safety, as they force drivers to make sudden swerves to avoid them.

As a provisional measure, warning signs have been installed along the roadside to alert drivers of the danger. These signs urge drivers to reduce speed, with limits reaching 60 km/h or even 40 km/h at the most critical points.
Sources from the Spanish Government Subdelegation in Lleida have confirmed they will analyze the situation with Roads officials in the coming days to find a solution. Maintenance technicians for the N-260 have already surveyed the area, although the cause of the rapid appearance of the potholes has not yet been detailed. Holes have also been detected, although less numerous, near the municipalities of Bellver de Cerdanya and Prullans.
